Overview: Norwell is a quiet gem. It is a bucolic town with many tree lined roads, water bodies and parks. You can expect to find large, wooded house lots or some farm-like properties resembling those you might see in some of the suburbs west of Boston. There is no coastline in Norwell but it does not lack for natural beauty. It is also conveniently located near route 3 on one side and near 3A on the other.
Food/nightlife/shopping: Norwell’s dining and nightlife scene is limited in the very small downtown area. There is an authentic Irish pub called The Tinker’s Son in the downtown area and a smaller local bar called McGreal’s.
In the route 53 area there are many other dining options, from excellent breakfast and brunch at Strawberry Fair to Chinese at Beijing House to Italian at Trattoria San Pietro to pub food in a sports bar atmosphere at the Fours.
There is excellent access to shopping at the Hanover Mall and nearby retail shops.
Recreation: Norwell has several beautiful parks and water bodies.
Norris Reservation, a Trustees property, offers walking trails through a lovely wooded area along the North River.
Fogg Park has a hiking trail through the heavily wooded Fogg Forest.
Schools: According to Boston Magazine, in 2013 Norwell’s schools were ranked #43 out of 147 within the Route 495 belt. See rankings HERE.
Location/Transportation: Norwell is located just east of Hanover and north of Scituate, about 20 miles south of Boston. Route 53 is the main road running through the north side of Norwell giving access to route 3, which is the main commuter road running from the South Shore to Boston. Route 123 runs through the entire town of Norwell and joins route 53 on the north side.
Norwell residents can access the Greenbush commuter rail in Scituate. Greenbush has two stops in Scituate and runs to South Station in Boston.
